$500 Spanish Educator Scholarships/Grants
The New Jersey Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese is pleased to announce a competition for $500 scholarships/grants for creative and innovative New Jersey Spanish educators.
To qualify, applicants must be current members of the NJ Chapter of AATSP as of 1/1/11 and teach or aid in teaching Spanish in a NJ school.
All applicants must submit the application by 2/28/11. All winners must attend the Congreso Primaveral on Saturday, May 7, 2011 in Edison, NJ to receive their checks.
Finally, all recipients must write a short description of how their money was spent (either using digital pictures or PowerPoint); these short reports will later be posted on the NJAATSP website.
Potential criteria for selection:
•Original and creative ideas for teaching that would also be practical for other Spanish teachers
•Integration of the NJ CCCS
•Request for travel to a Spanish-speaking country with ideas for using the new cultural knowledge in the classroom
•Request for professional development, including non-reimbursed classes or study-abroad programs
Selection will be by the Scholarship Committee of NJAATSP, and the decision of the committee is final. Winners will be notified shortly before the Congreso Primaveral.
