Keynote Speaker: Ursula Atkinson, Ph.D. of Rutgers University

Session 1: Ursula Atkinson will speak about the Rassias Method of language instruction. She will also present a breakout session following her her keynote speech.

Session 2: "Cinema in the Spanish language classroom: How to develop a complete, hands-on thematic lesson based on a Spanish language film."

Virginia E. Cubillán of Passaic Valley High School and Montclair State University explains a whole thematic unit based not only cultural aspects of South America, but also social, economic, and historical topics using "Motorcycle Diaries". See how students pack, write diary entries, send postcards and discover the beauties and realities of the countries Ernesto Che Guevara visited. Use hands-on activities, interviews, group assignments and writing activities in order to enrich students' proficiency levels in the language appropriate for all levels of Spanish.
